Julie Valerius DNP, CARN-AP
Julie is a nurse practitioner who earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities after completing her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is addiction medicine certified (CARN-AP) through the Addictions Nursing Certification Board (ANCB). Julie combines advanced pharmacotherapy with a passionate commitment to patient advocacy, harm reduction, and whole-person recovery. She utilizes knowledge of pharmacology to support each patient’s unique recovery goals, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. Julie’s strategy includes providing robust education on medications for substance use and co-occurring disorders, as well as how these treatments fit into an overall care plan. Driven in the belief that healthcare extends beyond the clinic, she holds a special interest in helping patients navigate the complex intersection of substance use and the justice system. Julie’s practice is rooted in providing a safe, entirely stigma-free environment where patients feel heard and are supported in actively directing their own healing.
