Training Opportunities

Reed Behavioral Health has a state-of-the-art training program that provides an array of opportunities for training and development in the field of co-occurring disorders.

 

Highlights of the training program at Reed Behavioral Health:

  • Meets requirements for several licensure tracks including:
    • Mental Health Professional (LPCC, LICSW, LP)
    • Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor
    • Dual Licensure (LPCC/LADC)
    • Registered Dietitian (RD, LD)
  • Programming runs from 9am to 7pm at two locations which can accommodate the busy schedules of working professionals
  • A particular emphasis on training as a Mental Health Professional (for our dual licensure track)
  • A substance use/eating disorder specialty track in the evenings from 4pm-7pm
  • Access to an experienced and dynamic multidisciplinary team with up to 5 hours of individual and group supervision each week
  • A holistic and client-centered environment for clients that focuses on evidence-based practices AND social determinants of health to help traditionally underserved individuals build the lives they want
  • A trauma-informed approach that includes opportunities to receive training in evidence-based treatments including in-house EMDR certificate training

Current Internship Opportunities:

 

Practicum/Internship for Dual Licensure LPCC/LADC Candidates. Training will include:

  • Comprehensive Assessments
  • Diagnostic Assessments
  • 245G treatment planning
  • Mental Health treatment Planning
  • Facilitating Co-occurring Disorder groups including Interpersonal Process groups
  • Orientations
  • Case Management sessions
  • Individual Psychotherapy Sessions
  • Screening/intake
  • Case Consultation
  • Supervision (Both individual and group)
  • Discharge Planning

Practicum/Internship for Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) candidates. Training will include:

  • Comprehensive Assessments
  • 245G treatment planning
  • Facilitating Psychoeducation, Skills and Recovery Management groups
  • Orientations
  • Case Management sessions
  • Individual Counseling Sessions
  • Screening/intake
  • Case Consultation
  • Supervision (Both individual and group)
  • Discharge Planning

Internship for Dietetic Students (RD, LD) who are in an ACEND qualified internship. Training will include:

  • Practice within the scope of practice of the dietitian in accordance with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Analyze individual client needs and create individualized clinical nutrition care plan
  • Gain an understanding of the role of the outpatient dietitian in clinical and community work
  • Advanced understanding of governmental food and nutrition assistance programs
  • Understand the role of the dietitian in the interdisciplinary team
  • Practice MNT for a wide population including eating disorders, substance use, liver disease, pancreatitis, endocrine issues, diabetes, and bariatric surgery
  • Practice under the Health At Every Size approach
  • Understand insurance and how to bill as an outpatient dietitian
  • Gain an understanding of the medical complications of eating disorders
  • Greater understanding of motivational interviewing techniques
  • Creating specialized meal plans for individuals struggling with eating disorders or disordered eating patterns
  • Gain and understanding of the importance of nutrition in substance use recovery and mental health
